Abstract

A lectotype has been designated for Carausius australicus Brunner 1907, which is listed as a new synonym of Carausius mercurius Stål 1877. This species and Lonchodes nigropunctatus Kirby 1896 (so far only reported from Queensland) have been transferred to a new genus, Austrocarausius, with L. nigropunctatus designated type species. Adults are redescribed. Eggs of both species are described for the first time. Figures of adults and eggs are given.
