Genus Sipyloidea Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893

This genus has a number of species frequenting tall tropical grasses, and others with brachypterous females, found on shrubs in the arid parts of southern Australia.

John et al: we believe that at least 12 species are currently represented in the Australian National Insect Collection (ANIC) at Canberra. An examination of this collection shows that several geographic species-groups are present within the Australian fauna. These are distinguishable by form, colour pattern, wing development and structure of the terminalia.
