Project: Papers: Procedure

Collecting the existing published papers into a single collection, making them more available to researchers and amateurs. This, of course, is subject to copyright limitations, but as may of the relevant papers are in excess of 50 years old, this should not present an overwhelming problem.

For each paper, I perform the same procedure, to make sure I don't overlook anything. I've layed it out here as a checklist. That way, I can print out a copy of this page, and tick things off as I go.

  1. If it isn't in English, obtain a translation.
  2. If permitted by copyright: Scan the paper into the computer, and turn it into text using OCR. Create a directory under papers/ to hold it.
  3. For each species mentioned in the paper
  4. For each paper cited in the Bibliography / References section of the paper
  5. If the paper was previously on the To Do list, remove it.
  6. Check newer papers, and if this paper appears in their Bibliography / References section, hyper-link to the new document.
