2007-Sep-22 CodeCon

Each year I organise a “Coders Conference&rdquo (CodeCon) where we escape from spouses, children and parents so we can code and talk about coding. We take a generator and lots of folding chairs.

This year was at Newnes Plateau, just north of Katoomba.

Here is the camp site. It doen't look much but it had everything important: a roof, a generator and lots of folding chairs... gotta have a lap for the laptop.

Some of us took a couple of hours to see the local scenery. The walk down into Deep Pass revealed fascinatingly weathered sandstone formations.

Deep Pass is a saddle (a creek leaves each way) deep in a ravine. The walls of the ravine are astonishing.

There are numerous interesting overhangs. Makes me think of abseiling.

This is the Deep Pass camp gound. Simply beautiful. The groomed lawn is thanks to the wombats and kangaroos.

Three creeks meet here, all deep ravines, downstream is just right of centre in the panorama.
