Key to adult females

- Fore tibiae with one or more foliose lobes. Apices of tibiae, part of tarsi, median segment and 8th abdominal segment with black blotches or markings, which are also present elsewhere on the body to a lesser extent A. mercurius
- Fore tibiae plain, without lobes. Insect plain brown, except for darker blotches around hind part of mesonotum and metanotum A. nigropunctatus

Key to eggs

Average measurements: capsule length (l), height(h), width (w). Eggs of both species dark brown, almost oval; capsule with network of large cells.
- Capsule lacking depressions. l = 2.5 mm, h = 1.3 mm, w = 1.2 mm A. mercurius
- Capsule with two large round depressions. l = 2 mm, h = 1.2 mm, w = 1 mm A. nigropunctatus
